Trauma & Suicide Prevention

This 3.5 hour SFA accredited course is aims to provide all people with both confidence and skills to open and have a conversation with someone who may be thinking of suicide. Course numbers are limited to 16 to ensure that you can be safe and supported whilst you learn. The minimum age to complete the course is 16. Learning takes place in two manageable sessions through a mixture of group activities, presentations and discussions. The course is accompanied by course workbook

This two-day Livingworks course empowers people to provide skilled, life-saving interventions. Courses are delivered by two knowledgable and supportive trainers, with numbers limited to ensure that you can be safe and supported whilst you learn. The minimum age to complete the course is 16. Learn how to prevent suicide by recognising signs, provide a skilled intervention and, develop a safety plan to keep someone alive. Delivery takes place through a mixture of powerful audiovisuals, discussions and simulations

In these two hours we explore the difference between a person having thoughts about suiciding and having made suicide plans. We dispel myths that talking about suicide can 'encourage' thoughts and actions. We also become familiar using the acronym “STOP” when engaging with someone who is considering completing suicide.
