I hope I am right in my thinking that stigma around mental health and wellbeing is being reduced and people are more comfortable with talking about mental illnesses in public conversation?
I still struggle with conversation in my Midlands chippies at times however. If I ask for a ‘bun’ I get the same ‘gone out look’ as if I had asked if pigs can fly (but then if I come how and talk about the chip batch I had at lunch – my Mum wouldn’t have a scooby)?!!
So maybe we all have a job to do in opening up conversation about mental health and wellbeing so that is is not a scary stigma that conversation around should be avoided?
We discuss ways to openly talk about living with mental health conditions and how to progress conversations with those facing challenges on our Mental Health First Aider courses…
